Recently I was asked to make a special dress to match Bridesmaid dresses. This doll was given to the bride by her 11 month old niece. There were 3 adult bridesmaids dressed in turquoise dresses and the little one had a white dress with a sash in the turquoise material.
I made the basic dress from a piece of white broderie anglaise which I lined with plain white cotton. I trimmed the bottom of the dress with a piece of the turquoise material. One of the dresses had been shortened and I was given the strip of material cut off.
I machine embroidered a row of stitches over the join and made a belt to match the young bridesmaid’s dress.
I used the last scrap of material to decorate the bow adding a white bow to a gathered piece.
Lastly I added a sparkly white cardigan.
As I said the doll used was Ruth after the Bride’s late Grandma. Ruth means Faithful.
